Then who can be saved?

(Mark 10:26)

The rich man that comes to Jesus has everything. We don’t know if he is married. If not, then he is the perfect bachelor.  He has many possessions, he is devout to the traditions of his people, he observes the commandments. He seems to be a nice guy too. He comes to Jesus in good faith and leaves not angry, but sad and disappointed.

Those of us living in safety, without food and water insecurities, can relate to the rich young man. We try to do things right. We likely worked hard for the things we have. Many of us are faithful and see ourselves as obedient to such faith. We come to Jesus in worship often, seeking his wisdom and love. However, some of us, keep going out empty and frustrated wondering why God allows for some to have and some to have not the blessings that are not only material but also spiritual.

Maybe we should ask ourselves yet another question, what do we lack that our God provides abundantly?
